2 for Monday Morning

11/17-Engine 233 proceeded out at 09:30 to assist Company 31 with a fire drill at the Bridges of Bent Creek. Just prior to the drill beginning, Engine 2 responded on a medical assist call in the 400 block of Rich Valley Rd. The crew assisted packaging the patient and removing him from the 2nd floor. Realizing the drill would be missed, the crew then checked on a new residence being built in a wooded area of Sample Bridge Rd. While returning to the station, 1st alarm was struck for a oven fire on Longwood Dr. E233 was first arriving with light smoke showing and the Police Department evacuating the occupant. Off Duty Harrisburg City Firefighter B. Myers was on scene and was in the process of removing the contents of the oven to the exterior. EMS was requested to the front of the structure to check the occupant. The crew investigated, found no extension, then began ventilation using a fan from R31. Command held the box to E133, E233, and Company 31. The contents of the oven were thoroughly doused with water outside. The crew also changed the battery in the working smoke detector. It appeared that the occupant turned on the oven without checking to make sure everything was removed first. Units were available within 45 minutes.

Silver Spring Elementary Poster Winners Announced

11/13-This morning, the "fire prevention team" headed out to Silver Spring Elementary School to appear on "SSTV" and award the ribbons to the winners. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for each grade were picked from a large amount of posters this year. The 1st place poster winners will also receive a ride to school via fire truck. Instead of the big yellow bus, we will pick up the kids at home in the shiny red fire truck and bring them to school. We are very excited to offer this poster contest this year as another way to involve the students in fire prevention. Special thanks to Monroe Fire Company for coming up with the idea. I am sure  Chief Heckert will comment that we are "the followers" once again. In any rate, it was a great idea and we are grateful to offer it to our schools as well.

Checking New Developments

11/13-After clearing an overturned Tractor Trailer on the PA Turnpike yesterday, the crew aboard Engine 233 visited several new developments under construction in Silver Spring Township to check fire hydrants and look at building construction and access. The above eight (8) unit town home apparently has fallen victim to the tough economy and sits unfinished (as it has for several months). The crew checked the building and its close proximity to occupied units then discussed how a fire would be handled in the unoccupied unit.

Overturned on the "I"

11/11-Shortly before 06:00, Crews from Companies 33, 31 (Silver Spring, and 30 (Hampden) were dispatched to the area of MM56 on Interstate 81 South for a Tractor Trailer Overturned. Chief 231 (Henderson) arrived to find the call as dispatched with the driver confined to the cab but possibly uninjured. E233 was 1st in and used a little giant ladder to access the cab and protect the driver while Captain 33 used an axe to remove the windshield for the driver to crawl out. EMS handled patient care and transport per State Police. It is believed that the driver fell asleep and left the roadway rolling the truck when he tried to bring it back up onto the roadway. The were no hazards and the box was held to Engine 2 and both Township Traffic Units. Units were clear around 07:30.

October Statistics

11/13-For the Month of October the company responded to 49 calls for service. The busiest call type was Good Intent Calls with 19. The busiest day of the week was Friday with 13. Average manpower responding per call was 8. The remainder of the report can be found on the Statistics Page.

Thanks for the Support!

11/9-Thank you to the Community for the tremendous support of the Fall Turkey Supper held last night. 727 meals were served, this included 202 take out meals. We did not run out of any food, but we did have to make an emergency run to Giant for some cakes. The volunteers put in a hard days work making sure everything was in order. We actually started serving at 3:15 (since there was a line starting) and had the social hall filled (the first of three times) by 4:00. The doors closed at 6:45. All cleanup was completed by 8:30PM. Again thanks for the continued support of our fund raising events. Also thanks to those who donated cakes and gave of their time to help.

Fire Prevention Statistics Announced

11/9-For the month of October, the fire company logged 16 different fire prevention/education programs in the community. A total of 44.75 hours were recorded with 191.50 staff hours. The company reached out to over 1670 kids and adults during the month. Thanks to everyone who assisted with the fire prevention programs this year.

Another Working Fire

11/7-The 31-05 Box was sent out at 14:41 hours this afternoon for a reported car fire in a garage on the 1st block of Linda Dr in Silver Spring Township. E133 and T33 were on the street within two minutes. While responding County updated advising an attached garage with vehicles on fire inside. This was also confirmed by EMS Capt 72 who was on scene. Chief 33 had a good loom up visible and requested 2nd alarm Tankers (due to the area being non hydranted) and E123 for RIT. E133 and T33 arrived 1st and 2nd in with a working fire. Two handlines were placed in service immediately with the first entering the home from side "A" into the breezeway and the second to side "C" (Rear) in an attempt to push the fire out the open garage doors. Additional  units from Silver Spring, Hampden, West Enola, Summerdale, and Shermans Dale arrived and sent manpower to assist with opening up the garage interior, garage roof, and to check for extension in the main part of the house. Crews were successful in keeping the fire out of the house containing it to the garage. The remainder of the home did suffer extensive smoke damage and moderate heat damage. Control was marked approximately 30 minutes into the operation. The State Police Fire Marshall came to the scene and discovered the origin to be electrical in nature from the main panel box in the garage. Excellent work by all crews on this incident. Utility and Traffic 33 also responded. All units were clear shortly after 17:00 and cleaned up and available by 18:30. Thanks to West Shore E313 and Tanker 39 for covering our station. At 15:02 hours, Engine 233 and Squad 33 responded to an Accident in the 900 blk of W. Trindle Rd with E25 and R27. Chief 25 held the response to E233 and R27. Thanks to the Company 33 personnel for getting 6 rigs on the street for the daylight calls today!

Turkey Supper This Saturday

11/7-Our Annual Fall Turkey Supper will be held Saturday, November 8th at the fire station. The ladies have been our "full time" staff this week baking and preparing turkeys Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday then slicing all the turkey by hand most of the day on Thursday. Thursday was also spent getting the social hall ready to go as well. The supper begins at 3:30 PM and goes until 7 PM or until we sell out (whichever comes first). We are planning on a large crowd and should be good on food to 700 people. The meal includes fresh roast turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, homemade filling, corn, gravy, roll, butter, homemade dessert, and beverage. The meal will once again be served family style which means our members will bring the platters right to your table and keep filling them until you are finished. After reading this, if you are not ready for a meal that will make every grandmother's mouth water with envy then you better go to McDonald's. You won't want to miss this meal! Treat your family and let us do the cooking for you! Take outs are available in a separate line this year once again. Cost of the meal is $8.75 for adults, $3.50 for children, and 5 years and under are free.

Working Fire Ends the Day

Firefighters from Co. 31 and 33 prepare to cleanup

The Crew checks the pickup after removing the cribbing

Canopy Light at Kwik Fill

11/3-The fifth call for the day was a working house fire in Monroe Township at 21:57 on Otto Dr. Chief 25 (Heckert) arrived with smoke showing. E25 laid a supply line from Clouser Rd and Tanker 33 proceeded in behind to directly supply E25. E133 staged at sent manpower to assist with interior operations. Pictures to follow. Thanks to E213 and T250 for covering Station 33. Also for the day, at 10:33, Engine 233 responded with Carlisle units to the Carlisle Interchange of the PA Turnpike for a tractor trailer overturned. While enroute, Turnpike officials reported non injury and E233 staged at the access gate until placed available. At 16:37, Engine 233 and Traffic 33 responded with Company 31 to the 700 block of Hogestown Rd for a 3 vehicle accident. The crew assisted with stabilizing and depowering vehicles and patient packaging. After clearing the scene at 17:19, Engine 233 went to Kwik Fill (our normal fuel station) to get fuel. While the crew was getting some cold "Swiss Drinks" and the driver was signing for paperwork, one of the lights on the front canopy over the gasoline pumps caught fire. Chief 33 (Hall) requested the dispatch. The crew immediately pulled a dry chemical extinguisher to shoot up to the fire located about 14 feet up on the canopy while Chief 33 made sure power was secured and the pumps shut down. Several vehicles were refueling and fire was dropping to the ground. The situation was brought under control quickly and units were clear within 15 minutes. Power was able to the isolated and service restored. Later, E133,T33, and Traffic 33 responded at 20:29 to A.H. Reiff Tanbark with Co.'s 34 (Shermans Dale) and 39 (North Middleton) for a possible building fire. C334 (McConnell) arrived to find no building on fire but their large tan bark pile was on fire (what we consider normal since we encounter it at least once a year). Units remained on scene for about 1 hour as employees worked to control the fire with loaders.

Working Fire in Hampden

E20 and E337 on Side A, E430 was also on Side A to Left of Photo

1200 Foot 5" lay by E133 to Supply Truck 30

T33 Supplied a 5" Line to E430 and a 5" Line to Tanker 20 from the Hydrant

10/30-E233 got an early start to the day at 06:54 responding on the Transfer to West Shore Bureau of Fire while they operated on a building fire in Camp Hill at Atlas Energy Products. The Engine was placed available before arriving at their station. At 08:32, Tanker 33 was dispatched as part of the 1st Alarm assignment to the 2400 Block of Hume Ln in Hampden Township. T33 arrived as the 1st Tanker and operated as an Engine on the hydrant supplying E430 (the attack Engine) and Tanker 20 (side "C") each with 5" lines. E133 responded on the 2nd Alarm Assignment at 08:53 to the scene. E133 dropped a 2nd supply line and laid 1200 feet to Truck 30. The line was charged but not needed. Crews from the 1st alarm did make entry and began hitting the fire which had vented to the rear on all three floors. Due to the time of involvement, crews were pulled from the interior and defensive operations began until it was deemed safe for re-entry. The home was under construction and in a remote section of a new development which created alot of mud for crews and equipment. Utility 33 was brought to the scene to load dirty house to return to the fire station. E1 and the Tanker were released at 11:20 but not fully inservice until nearly 14:30 after hose was cleaned and reloaded. Thanks to E313 and York Tanker 67 for covering our first due and assisting with cleaning hose.

Company Meeting Change

10/30-Due to the Elections falling on our regular meeting night, the fire company has approved moving the November monthly meeting to the 2nd Tuesday of November which will be the 11th. As we expect a very high voter turnout and higher traffic volumes around the station parking lot, it was felt that the meeting should be changed. By accordance of the by-laws, the meeting is moved to the 2nd Tuesday.

Change your Clock, Change your Battery

10/30-As we change our clocks "back" one hour Saturday evening, it is also time to remember to change the battery in your smoke detectors. Many newer homes have electric hard wired detectors per building codes, but these offer a battery backup just the same as a detector operated by battery alone. The New Kingstown Fire Company would like to remind you to change the battery in all of your smoke detectors to insure that your family is warned in the event of fire or smoke. Also, any resident of Silver Spring or Middlesex Township that is in need of smoke detectors should contact the fire station by phone at 766-4033. The fire company, in conjunction with ABC27 and Kiddie, is participating in Operation Lifesaver and has received free smoke detectors again this year from ABC27. Again, any questions can be directed to the fire station at 766-4033.

Tuesday Training

10/29-Crews reviewed rope rescue operations for our Tuesday evening training session. Pictured above, the guys work with the stokes basket and rigging. The 4:1 haul system and belay lines were also reviewed. Along with the refresher, several new items were added to the cache'. Reeves sleeves were added to Engine 2 and the Squad and new tag line bags were also added to the rigs.

Accident in the "Hill" District

10/25-While Engine 133 was participating in the annual Ashcombe's Fire Prevention display, Company 33 and Rescue 31 were dispatched to the intersection of Locust Point Rd and Ridge Hill Rd for a vehicle accident. Upon response of Duty Chief 33 (Capt Brammer), County advised the Police Dept was on scene with no injuries. The box was held to Engine 233 and Traffic 33. Fire Police controlled traffic while the crew from Engine 233 confirmed no injuries and secured vehicles before going available within 20 minutes. Fire Police remained until the roadway was cleared.

Making Trick or Treat Safe for the Village

10/27-The annual distribution of trick or treat bags took place on Monday Evening. Bags, light sticks, and other goodies were handed out to the village of New Kingstown by the Ladies Auxiliary. The year, PNC Bank from the Silver Spring Commons helped us out by stuffing all the bags and then assisted with the distribution through town. A special thanks to Jim and Laura from PNC for helping us this year.

Start Your Shopping Early

10/26-The Holiday Craft Show will be held at the Fire Station on Saturday, November 1st with the doors opening at 8AM. Crew Covers Squad 54 for the Night

10/26-A crew of 4 covered Squad 54 (West End-Shippensburg) for a 12-hour period Saturday into Sunday while their members participated in their "Fall Ball". The crew was there with members of Monroe Fire Co who was covering their Engine. Both crews expected several runs due to the fact that it was homecoming weekend at Shippensburg University. The Engine and Squad visited Pizza Man for the evening meal followed by a trip to the "Treat" for ice cream. No calls were handled during our stay, much to this dismay of the crews. Thanks to the folks from West End for their hospitality and trusting their response area to our crews.

1st Due Accident

10/26-While Engine 1 was handling a fire prevention detail at Ashcombe's in Monroe Township, Engine 233 and Traffic 33 responded at 11:31 to Locust Point Rd and Ridge Hill Rd in the "Hill" section for a two vehicle accident. Capt Brammer (acting as the duty chief) was advised of no injuries upon arrival. E2 arrived and secured the vehicles confirming no injuries and EMS was canceled. Fire Police assisted until the vehicles were removed clearing at 12:15.

Five on Friday

10/26-Company 33 responded to five calls on Friday which included the Fire Police assisting on the Police Incident which resulted from a bank robbery in York County and ended with a vehicle accident on I83 N in the New Cumberland/Lemoyne Area. To start the day, Engine 233 responded to a vehicle accident with Company 31 at 06:47 on RT114 at I81. Initial reports of confinement were unfounded and the crew assisted with patient care and checking vehicles. E2 was available before 07:30. At 14:33, Engine 2 responded for a lifting assist call on Ashburg Dr. While on scene, the Engine was advised of a 2nd medical assist call also on Ashburg Dr which was handled once finished with the first call. Traffic 33 responded on the call to assist most West Shore area Fire Police just after 14:30 with major traffic problems resulting from the I83/Rt 581. The assignment was to close the on ramp to RT581 East from the Carlisle Pike. The Traffic unit was committed until nearly 19:30. While getting ready for the Meat Raffle, Brush 33 responded at 17:54 to Monroe Township for a possible field fire. The Brush was canceled just before arrival with Co. 25 units finding a trash fire. A special thanks to the Fire Police committing several hours directing traffic, especially during the evening rush hour.

Discarded Cigarette Starts Woods Fire

10/23-Brush and Tanker 33 responded Tuesday afternoon to the "narrows" on Bernheisel Bridge Rd in Middlesex Township for a woods fire. Units arrived to find a 100' x 100' area involved along the road. Brush 33 deployed the booster line to extinguish while the Tanker supplied water to the Brush. Brush 41 assisted with overhaul of the area. During the operation, the roadway was blocked for safety reasons and an accident occurred in the backlog of traffic. Fire Police were in the process of running traffic and were advised of the accident. Brush and Tanker 33 then assisted at the accident with fluids and debris removal. Units were finally cleared nearly 2 hours later. Motorists are urged to pay attention while driving, you never know what may be just over the next hill.

Members Train in Conshohocken, PA

10/19-Squad and Utility 33 with 5 members spent the day at the Montgomery County Training Grounds on Sunday, October 19th. Engine and Utility 25 with 7 members from Monroe also made the trip. The training class was presented by Traditions Training. Their staff is made up of firefighters from New York City, Washington DC, and Pittsburgh. The topic for the day was "pushing in". This is the term used when advancing lines into a burning building. Various techniques were learned throughout the day including how "rack" or reload hose lays in new fashions. The crew from 33 and Monroe trained together with crews from Barren Hill, Warminster, and various others from southeastern PA and Delaware. It was a very long day but very much worth the trip. Crews departed for the class at 6AM and did not make it back to the station until 8PM. Thanks to Nick, Tony, Dan, and Doug for the opportunity to train and learn together. I am quite sure we will be in contact again for another class.

Early Morning Confinement

Crews from Co. 31, 33, and 27 Working Together

The Vehicle required several methods of stablization

10/20-Crews from Silver Spring, New Kingstown, and Citizens were alerted at 00:58 this morning to the 100 blk of Commerce Dr for a vehicle over the embankment with entrapment. R31/C31 arrived to find the vehicle over the embankment into a swale on large rocks and began stabilization efforts. E233 arrived and assisted stabilizing and also threw a ground ladder and deployed a hand line. R27 arrived and also threw a ground ladder to assist traversing the steep embankment. Crews used various methods to secure the vehicle then removed the "soft top" for extrication. A spine board was then inserted behind the driver and using webbing the driver was then lifted out and secured to the board. After properly securing the patient, crews "passed" the board out and up the ladders to EMS crew for transport. Thanks to all involved in the extrication including A71 and Silver Spring Police who all worked together while passing the board to the hard surface. Extrication was completed 27 minutes after arrival.

Three for Tuesday

FF Baney secures the battery

10/16-Engine 133 and Tanker 31 started the day off with a reported vehicle fire on Fry Dr just off Hempt Rd in Silver Spring Township. Before leaving the Station, Co. 33 Fire Police Officer Kopas reported a mechanical issue and no apparent fire. Chief 133 (Horning) held the response to E1. The crew checked the vehicle upon arrival reporting a broken radiator hose and secured the battery. E133 was available within 10 minutes. Later in the day, Engine 133 and crew of 4 assisted with lighting at the annual Mechanicsburg Halloween Parade. The Engine was proud to follow the Cumberland Valley Marching Band through the Parade. While Engine 1 was committed, Engine 233 (with 6) took in a chimney cleaning on Hoover Rd for the training topic for the evening. With both Engines committed, Company 33 was alerted for a landing zone at the fire station. T33 and Chief 33 (with 5) handled this assignment. The LZ was needed for a medical emergency in the Village of New Kingstown. The crew established the LZ while fire police controlled a large crowd due to a portion of our grounds being used by the CV Midget Football program. The crew performed a "hot load" of the patient into Life Lion Helicopter. T33 was available in 30 minutes. Shortly after 21:00, Engine 233/T33/Traffic 33 responded with a total of 13 members to a reported tractor trailer fire on I81 at Exit 48 in South Middleton Twp. All three units were canceled enroute by Command. 5 members remained on Station staffing Engine 1. Thanks to those involved tonight covering the rigs.

More Fire Extinguisher Training

10/16-On Monday, two (2) fire extinguisher training programs were conducted at local daycares. In the morning, the crew instructed staff members from Lamb Gate in New Kingstown while the evening session was held for the Mechanicsburg Learning Center, also in New Kingstown. At both programs, staff members were shown the proper and safe handling of extinguishers, classes of fires, and were faced with live fire evolutions. In most cases the training is part of their annual certification of their daycare center. We appreciate being able to train these folks in order to make sure they know how to react if needed.

Donation to the Police K-9 Unit

L to R-Assistant Treasurer Gretchen Horning, Chief Sadler, and President James Hall

10/16-At the October monthly meeting, a check in the amount of $500.00 was presented to Silver Spring Township Police Chief James R. Sadler in support of the K-9 unit that will be placed into service during 2009. The Police Department is asking for donations to fund the K-9, training for both the dog and the handler, and other related items needed to begin the new endeavor. This will be the first K-9 on duty in Silver Spring Township. We feel that the donation will be put to good use and felt this was the right thing do as the fire company and police department both work towards making sure our community is safe. Anyone interested in donating towards the program, should contact Sgt Leroy Hippensteel at 717-697-0607

Good Day at the Park

E233 set up before the crowd arrived

FF Mullen and Chief Hall check on the progress of the chicken halves

Chief Hall watches over the Chicken

10/12-Members got an early start Saturday morning for the Fall Festival hosted by the Silver Spring Township recreation committee. The chicken pits were fired and loaded by 08:30 and 100 halves of chicken and baked potatoes started to cook. Great attendance brought on by great weather made our BBQ a success. All 100 halves were sold within an hour and we probably could have sold at least 100 more. We apologize to those who were turned away and we will certainly evaluate next year's event and plan for more chicken. E233 and Sq33 were on display from 10:00 to 15:00 for the public (and many kids) to view and ask questions about. Fire Prevention handouts and smoke detectors were available at no charge throughout the day. Pictures will be posted as we have the opportunity. Thanks to all that came out and supported the BBQ or just stopped by to talk.

Kitchen Inspected

10/12-On Friday, October 3rd, the fire company kitchen received its annual inspection by the PA Department of Agriculture. This is an unannounced inspection and the kitchen was found to be in compliance with their standards. You may visit the Department of Agriculture website the view our inspection report (or any of your favorite restaurants) at http://www.agriculture.state.pa.us/agriculture/cwp/view.asp?a=3&q=137994
The members of the fire company work hard to insure the kitchen is cleaned after each use and maintained properly and is available for inspection at all times. We also thank the department of agriculture for their continued vigilance to insure the well being of the public.

Carlisle Sertoma Basket Bingo

10/11-The Carlisle Sertoma Club will sponsor a basket bingo program at the fire station on Sunday, October 12th. Doors open at 11AM. The fire company will be providing the buffet meal for the program. Please do not call the fire station for information. If you are interested in playing, just show up at the door on Sunday, they will be more than happy to accommodate you.

8 Calls in Two Days

10/11-Crews from New Kingstown took in 8 calls over the past two days, 2 on Thursday afternoon and 6 on Friday. On Thursday besides the entrapment call explained below, both Engines responded at 13:20 for a fire alarm call in Middlesex Township which resulted in cancellation. Friday, the calls were 2 fire alarms, 3 medical assists, and a tree down. We apologize to the 1st and 2nd grade students at Silver Spring Elementary for not making it back in time for their fire prevention program due to the accident, your program has been rescheduled to Friday, October 17th. We know you were very excited and awaited our visit, but emergency calls have to come first. We'll see you on the 17th!

10/11-Crews from New Kingstown and Silver Spring wrapped the 1st week of our fire prevention schedule Friday morning. Volunteers spent everyday this week visiting schools and daycares in our 1st due area. Silver spring assisted on Tuesday and Thursday as we visited Green Ridge and Silver Spring Elementary Schools,  while Monday, Wednesday and Friday were spent at local daycares. We spoke to over 1000 students this past week and we have several more scheduled throughout the remainder of this month. Students on grades K-5 at Middlesex, Silver Spring, and Green Ridge will be participating in a poster contest with one winner from each grade (in each school) getting a ride to school on the Fire Engine. Winners will be announced later next week after all posters have been collected and reviewed. The kids have been great this week and we encourage them to discuss what they have learned with their parents at home. More pictures will be added to the fire prevention page next week.

Fire Prevention Week

10/6-Like most fire companies across this nation, the New Kingstown Fire Company is busy this week (and most of this month) making rounds to local schools and daycares spreading the words of fire safety. This year, the theme for Fire Prevention Week is to "prevent home fires". You may ask how do I accomplish this in my home. There are many ways to prevent home fires, some are very simple, others quite complex. The easiest would be to conduct your own home safety inspection; checking all areas of the home where a fire could start and make every attempt to correct problem areas. Please check our fire prevention page for more information including pictures from our visits. You can also click on the official fire prevention week logo above to be directed to the National Fire Protection Association website for more in depth information.

10/5-Six Members from Company 33 along with Engine 133 traveled to Emittsburg, MD on Sunday, October 5th to take part in the National Fallen Firefighter's Memorial Weekend at the National Fire Academy. The company was invited to participate as part of a static apparatus display set up in the front yard of the fire academy along Seton Av. E133 was on display with Monroe E25, Union E241, and Gettysburg Truck 1. Crews from the three Cumberland County Companies traveled together leaving at 05:30 Sunday morning to arrive and be set up prior to 08:00. A large American Flag was raised between E241 and
Truck 1 with the Engines flanking each side. After the display was set up, the crews attended the morning breakfast buffet inside the facility then was able to tour the Fallen Firefighter's Memorial (pictured above) as well as the 9/11 Memorial. The crews were also able to participate in the "Sea of Blue" in which we lined the sidewalk together with over 2000 other firefighters in full Class "A" Dress as the families of 109 fallen firefighters were escorted to the seats. After standing at attention for over 1 hour, the last of the families were escorted by and we then watched the honor guards march in as part of the opening ceremonies. It was a very moving  (to say the least) experience to have been able to take part in this program. Additional information and pictures can be found by clicking here.

Working Fire in Monroe

10/4-Crews from several Volunteer fire companies, including New Kingstown, assisted Monroe Firefighters on a fully involved house fire nested in the South Mountain near Brandtsville. Tanker 33 was alerted at 01:41 and responded promptly at 01:43 as part of an add on of Tankers due to the non-hydranted coverage area. While enroute, a good header was visible in the dark night sky with heavy fire evident as we crossed into Monroe Township. T33 arrived just behind 1st alarm units an set up its portable tank to begin rural water supply operations. T23 (Upper Allen) also set up its tank. Both units along with Franklintown T65 dumped their water and set off for the refill site established by Upper Allen E223 along Creek Rd about 3/4 mile from the scene. Tankers from Union and Silver Spring were also summoned to assist and together shuttled approximately 58,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire. E128 (Washington) was drafting from the portable tanks and supplied E25/T25 approximately 1200 feet away at the scene. E133 was dispatched for manpower at 02:22.
