On Sunday while cleaning up from the monthly breakfast, E133/Sq33/C33 responded at 11:19 to the Blue Beacon Truck Wash on Clinton Av for a CO Detector Activation. Crews checked the area with the meter finding no readings and believed the source to have been a loose outlet where the detector was plugged in. Monday, crews answered three calls, and accident at 13:05 on the Carlisle Pike, and medical assists at 17:16 and 18:14. Tuesday, Brush 33 responded to two calls, at 09:14 dispatched to cover for Co.31 which resulted in a cancellation and a grass fire on the Turnpike with T33 at 13:43. E133 then handled a fire alarm at CV High School at 14:24. Crews found a power failure and quickly cleared. |

Back to Back Crashes Again 5/15-Crews from both Township companies were alerted at 20:35 hours Friday evening for a motorcycle accident with fire on Sample Bridge Rd. C31 (McDonald) arrived to find no fire and was advised by EMS crews to request aero medical. E31 was the 1st fire unit to arrive and dropped part of its crew, then responded to the Silver Spring Golf Course to establish a landing zone. E233 arrived at the scene and provided lighting. Crew began to assist EMS until it was reported that the motorcyclist had expired. Crews secured the area and remained on scene assisting the coroners office. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the victim. E233 cleared around 21:45 while the Traffic Unit remained. Just as crews were doffing their gear after returning to the station, Township companies were back on the street to another accident in the 400 blk of Hogestown Rd. Have you ever wondered what it would be
like to be a firefighter? On June 6 & 7 of 2009 the New Kingstown Fire Company will sponsor it's 2nd annual WACKERS (We Are Committed Kids to Emergency Rescue Services) Weekend. This program enables 20 area children from the ages of 11 to 13, to experience firefighting first hand. Each participant will be issued safety equipment, uniforms and an accountability tag for use during this weekend. Chosen applicants will arrive Saturday morning June 6th and stay at the firehouse until Sunday, June 7th. They will learn first hand how to use firefighting and rescue equipment; much of the weekend is hands on exercises. Highlights from this years fun filled weekend include: vehicle rescue, a visit from Stat Medevac Helicopter, breathing apparatus, and many more awesome activities! At the end of the weekend, awards will be given out to everyone. This is an excellent opportunity for many children in our community to experience what it is like to be a firefighter or officer in a local fire company.
We would be very happy to have you be a
part of this weekend.

Working Mobile Home Fire 4/29-Crews from New Kingstown, Silver Spring, Hampden, West Enola, and Summerdale were dispatched at 00:55 this morning to a mobile home fire on Sportsmans Rd in the 31-07 Box. Truck 30 arrived first with a well involved structure. E31 laid a 5" supply line back the lane followed by Tanker 19. E133 set up a dump site operation while E430 dropped their crew and established a tanker fill site. Additional Tankers from Shermans Dale, Marysville and Resque Fire Co (Susquehanna Twp) were called to assist. While pumping the 5" supply line, a section of 5" at E133 failed and was quickly replaced, however at that point we were unable to re-establish a draft due to a primer failure. T134 was dumping at the time and was quickly placed into drafting and supplying the 5" line to E31. The home was a total loss. Units cleared the scene around 04:00. Thanks to E313 for handling a medical assist call while transferred to Station 33. No pictures were available at the time of web update. |

E133 arrived and the crew went interior to check. The Police Department had arrived prior and had already forced a window from the exterior and met the crew at the apartment door. A pan of gravy was found on the stove cooked dry. As the crew checked the interior, the occupant of the apartment was found in cardiac arrest in the living room. EMS was immediately requested to enter the structure. E133's crew assisted EMS crews and the Police Department. Attempts to revive the patient were unsuccessful. Additional units arriving assisted with ventilation before being placed available. Co. 33 remained on the scene for well over 1 hour. Morning Mess on I81 4/15-Crews were alerted at 08:00 to an accident involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 81 NB at MM55.7. Chief 114 enroute to work stopped and checked on injuries prior to the arrival of apparatus. The backlog of traffic created a mess most of the morning with several vehicles getting stuck in the mud while trying to turn around in the medial strip. Fire Police were dispatched to assist on another accident in the area of MM48. After all patients were transported, fire apparatus cleared the scene. PSP decided it was best to leave an involved tractor trailer (also stuck in the medial mud) there until the afternoon. Fire Police were again dispatched and assisted with traffic control points while I81 was closed to remove the truck. Thanks to all involved. At 20:08, Engine 233 and Traffic 33 responded to assist Co. 31 at an accident on Wertzville Rd at RT114. E233 was canceled enroute, Traffic 33 continued in to assist. While returning, E233 handled a medical assist call on Hilton Head Av. |
