How do you honestly tell someone "thank you" in a manner that they don't already know? Well, this one is difficult because he really isn't going away. Phil completed his last career shift with New Kingstown at 06:00 Friday morning and transitions into a volunteer with us now. He begins a full time position with another department. Phil was our "wild card" back when we hired our full time driver/operators. We really didn't know he would live up to that.....Phil responded to over 1500 calls during his career at New Kingstown. He became more to us than just a driver; something more than we could ever imagine. He became a friend, sounding voice, a lendful ear for discussions, and most importantly part of our family! Phil became as husband and a father to two (2) boys-all while jogging employment. We've had some good calls, some great calls, and the ones that never end the way you want them to; and we gained a "just a few" good stories along the way. Phil even learned how to (not) drive in the snow in a fire engine!! Phil, we wish you the best of luck in your new career; as we know this isn't good bye....its just "see you later". |
