| Recently, FF Leitzel completed the 50 hour National Honor Guard Academy program held at New Kingstown Fire Company. The NHGA Class 2026-4 had attendance of emergency service members from 10 states representing 29 different agencies. The class was a grueling physically and mentally demanding five (5) days with students learning everything from drill, color guard, flag etiquette, planning, logistics, as well as casket movement - attention to every single detail involved when honoring a line of duty death or fallen comrade. This class teaches you everything you need to "get it right"......students learn that you have one chance to do that and it certainly is driven home with everything that is done. Who would have thought you would be ironing a t-shirt?? Uniform inspection is just one small part of the program, but that is part of the basics and sets the standard from the beginning. The New Kingstown Fire Company was proud to be able to provide the venue for this class once again. We hope that all the students never forget this class and remain active with your own departments as we know, and you've been told, that everything you learned needs to be kept up with and trained on routinely as the skills learned are perishable.
