Hands-on Training

We are fortunate to have been granted access to an acquired structure for hands on training. That opportunity is one of the best for real-life scenarios that can’t be simulated in a concrete building. Over the past few months, members have been putting their skills to the test, such as advancing handlines, search and rescue, radio communications, deploying ground ladders, and scba and thermal imager operation. These skills have built onto one another to prepare those members for a full-scale drill. Tonight, we were able to conduct several full-scale evolutions to allow members to function in different capacities. The house was fully furnished to allow for realistic settings. Fire conditions were simulated using a smoke machine and a lighted traffic cone. Mannequins were placed in various locations to be rescued as well. These evolutions proved to be a great learning experience for all involved.
