Retirement of MiniPumper 33

By Lieutenant Alexander Hall
March 20, 2026

Effective February 23rd, 2026, Minipumper 33 has been placed out of service, and has ultimately been sold.

Purchased by New Kingstown Fire Company Fireman's Relief in September of 2013, Minipumper 33 was an integral purchase to decrease the load on then Engines 133 and 233. The Minipumper replaced the former Brush 33, an aging 1976 Dodge Power Wagon, and the former Squad 33, a 1996 GMC 3500 Utility.

It served as a reliable 2nd out apparatus for vehicle accidents, with several extrications credited to its onboard AMKUS system. The smaller but mighty 750 GPM pump proved useful in several scenarios serving as a fill site pumper, car fires, field fires, and mountain fires. The mini was a great entry-level apparatus for beginner drivers and pump operators, allowing them to gain experience before moving up to the Engine, Tanker, or Squad.

To sum it up, the Minipumper has been a great, reliable, multifunctional piece of apparatus for us, and we hope that the (eventual) new owners get the same use out of it that we did.
