Just after 13:00 the Township Companies along with Co. 29 and RIT25 were sent to the 100blk of Grayhawk Way South for a basement fire. With a winter storm hitting the area, E33 (with 6) was out the door right away followed by the Squad (with 3). E33 laid out 900’ of 5” supply hose and arrived leaving room for the Truck to find smoke coming from a 2.5 story house under construction. Crews performed situational awareness of the construction to insure it was safe to make access and closing propane valves. Fire originated in the basement with some extension to the first and second floor. Origin traced to canisters of spray foam insulation too close to a propane heater. Fire was under control quickly and crews performed ventilation. Units were on scene about 45 mins. Thanks to the companies for helping roll hose. There were no injuries however several workers and the Silver Spring Township building inspector were in the house when the explosions alerted them. Explosions were the spray foam cans igniting from the heat and pressure.
