Squad (7), Engine (1), and Traffic 33 responded to I81 SB MM50 for an auto accident with confinement late this afternoon. Crews found a single vehicle over the embankment on its side. The vehicle was being supported by a large stump and saplings. Crew from Co.33, 41, R45, and Sq38 working together completed stabilization using several techniques as well as cutting away the trees for access. The roof and windshield were “flapped” back. Both front seat occupants were seat belted in and were removed once the stability of the vehicle was checked. Both were tended to by EMS crews waiting at the scene. R45 and Sq38 made access off Stambaugh Ln and into the field. 4 Ladders were used from Sq33 to assist in transporting equipment down. Extrication was completed 25 mins after arrival. This was a labor intensive extrication and all crews worked well together as usual. AMKUS Rescue Systems tools off Squad 33 included both hydraulic HD Cutters and one Spreader as well as the battery cutter, along with other tools and equipment. Thanks to the crew on station that assisted with getting all equipment back inservice! Photos from 33, 41, and Larry Rhody!
