| When the second floor project finished this past spring, the anticipation of expanding the live-in program came into fruition, and happened just out of our own membership. The guys (and girl) were already excited about the move! The “kids” got acclimated quickly and their friendship and comradely has grown even more. These are the members on the first rig out, tasked with responding on nearly every call while they are on station-the good, the bad, the ugly - fire alarm to med call, accident to structure call-it doesn’t matter to them because they are making a difference. Getting out the door quickly, mitigating each incident in a professional manner, and most importantly coming home safely. This doesn’t come without a price. There is certainly grumbling back and forth-but hey, what “family” doesn’t? We have no idea how long our current live-ins will be here, we do know we have a lot of potential coming up through our juniors that dream of being live-ins as well, so we will take what time we can and make it all that we can for them, and for us. The live-ins all have regular jobs which does take them away from the station, but look out when they are all on station, because together they combine to make a strong force that gets better each day!! Better, Stronger, Faster!! (Six million dollar man intro-look it up, it exists).
The live-in program, combined with our paid driver/operators, is the driving force behind to call volume we are seeing-one that will continue to push us toward 1000 alarms this year. You need us, give us a call-it’s that simple!! |
